Luderitz Teaser

I Just returned from a short trip to Luderitz! I Went with My Dad to go and build and improve the run for the upcoming record attempt! We worked like slaves along with Catman & Lighty. We managed to close all the rivers that cause chop on the speed run! Sadly we did not have much wind to test our efforts and we had to get back! Seb & Lighty remained to test it! We are still waiting for their results! The Record attempt is around the corner, 15th September to 15th October! The Biggest battle ever is coming!

The Luderitz website also just got launched, so for those who stil want to enter, resgister A.S.A.P, and for those who just want to see whats going on! Its well worth it!

Naish S.U.P Day in LBN

I arrived home after a 30 hour journey from Fuerte at 21:45 Friday Night! Saturday Morning I was dragged out of bed early to check out some of the sickest Stand Up Paddling Conditions Langebaan has ever seen! The Prediction was Offshore Breeze with 6m swell!

Ivan van Vuuren joined us for the day, bringing his style all the way from Maui , he truly showed us how it needs to be done! Brad from Downwind Shuttle also represented! My father, who was thus far  totally anti S.U.P,  finally got addicted and we couldn’t get him off the water! Shot to Rob Munro of Naish Africa for bringing everyone together and providing the toys for action! And lets not forget the awesome Braai at sunset! Cheers Guys! Awesome day!

Dakhla Festival Morocco 2008

Morrocco has definitely been one of my favorite trips to date! I Got an invitation to go to the Dakhla Festival from Yann Nguyen of Naish France. In the beginning i thought i wouldn’t be able to make it because of such short notice etc. But Somehow the miracle came together. I had t Fly Cape Town to Johannesburg to Dubai to London to Casablanca to Dakhla! It took ages! But i made it! The Dakhla festival is a Huge Music Festival combined with the Moroccan Surfing Nationals and an Invitational Windsurf & Kitesurf Long Distance event! I was one of 3 Kitesurfers, the Other two might as well have been family! Manu Taub & Alex Caizergues! It was amazing!  We did a serious amount of Kilometres on the water every day! We sailed all the Way from the Kite Experience School at the top of the Lagoon back down to the town of Dakhla! Its about 20km’s by road, and we did way more on the water for sure! I wasnt prepared for the scale of the downwinder and came only with my twin tip board, so i was really struggling to keep up with the windsurfers!

But i Learnt alot and pushed mysef really hard! At Night we stayed in the coolest desert camp imaginable! True Desert Gypsy tents that smelled of Camels and Goats! My Neighbours on one side was Gerald Pelleau & Cigar and Whisky man and on the Other Side Yann & Fabienne Nguyen! I was super happy to really get along well with everyone, we sat in our tents and talked over small cups of whisky and i learnt to smoke my first original cuban  cigar through the guidance of ............ , then most nights we would walk around town through the markets and watch the musical Shows! It was amazing! I also  met Phillipe ______ the Organiser of the Defi Wind Race, and Cyril Moussilmani, And Frank Dusaux and Lucille Brunel from the Kite Experience School in Dakhla! I was sad to have to go home! But I Know im back in the Northern Hemishphere within two weeks for the Port Saint Louis PKRA Speed event!

Facebook

Talk about a mellow time. After an amazingly active day yesterday, today has been completly dead. Its been pissing with rain. Many parts of France are flooding. I slept late, spent most of the day chilling, watching Prison Break and planning the rest of my up & coming adventure…. Sorry no englightening realisations or freaking parties. I did get introduced to facebook though… Rob you will pay for it ! Facebook is supposedly more addictive than myspace. Oh *** ! I caught up with old school friend from Jozi now all over the world. Its super strange. Technology is a blessing but also a curse. Check it out anda dd me as a friend… http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=576932096 haha !

Im off to London tomo... so things will probably become interesting again...

Oh and two more things. Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?
Why are the adjectives 'fast as' and 'slow as' often used in conjunction with hell, is hell slow or fast?
