Off to Leucate...

Woke up late thanks to the snow shutters that keep the room dark as night! Yeah! Pepsi was acting like a warm water bottle lying nicely iagainst my back! This is good! Read a bit, got up , had coffe and packed for leucate ! we had to get theer asap as today was the start of the event and registration for the speed party! We wore locked and loaded and cruising to leucate! What a scenice drive! Through the “provance” .Arles was the first location on the way, I found out that it was one of the Biggest cities during the roman empire and was Famous because lots of roman style buildings and big arenas & Temples etc. NAother interesting observation is the insane amount of Horse and cow stickers
On the back of cars! It was weird! But alex explained! It seems tats it’s the symbols representing the camargue region!

We arrived! Checked in with pascal maka! Met up with Manu Taub & Cyril pimont! The cars are standing about 5- 10 km away from the event site! Its gona be big! Seb drove past me at some stage not sure where he was going!
Anyway here is the officilal write up of the events first day:

“The Mondial du Vent opened today with a regular wind which allowed around twenty kitesurfers to make a last training session during a demo.
As far as windsurf is concerned, the Naish Speed Party, a speed competition gathering all the amateurs under the leadership of the living legend Robby Naish, starts tommorrow
Today has also been dedicated to the registration for the Euro Cup which confirmed the presence of the best runners amongst which are the Frenchman Antoine Albeau, multiple Champion of the world and of France, as well as Finian Maynard, Ross Williams and the Polish Wojtek Brzozowski.
The village was animated from the end of the morning on with many kites, some BMX acrobatic demos and spectacular stunts achieved by some sportsmen specialized in the art of
Every evening the village remains open until 9 p.m. and tomorrow the official Foster bar called « La Bodega » organises a night party until midnight with some gigs by various bands: Nika and Grip & Pipe Arrustut.
The forecast for tomorrow is planning a sunny day with a Northeast wind around 10 to 15 knots « ( Excuse the sentence structure, it was translated from French to English !

The evening started off with a dramatic opening ceremony of which i understood very little. We were all called up onto stage and made a fuss about, and then the crowd went ballistic ! Robby Naish ( the man himself) hand Ruben Lenten were obviously the Kings but we all had our own little turn in the Sunshine of Cameras ! Afterwards i checked out my new flat ! i am sharing it with pro slalom windsurfer from austrailia Steve Allen ! Hes a legend guy ! im right behind the event sight and about 20m from everything i need ! i can see the beach and conditions from the kitchen balcony and im happy as hell about it ! special reccomendation from pascal maka himself ! yee hah ! i wont comment on the style of the appartment though, as there is none ! The only thing its comes close to is a Bellville, South african retirement vilage living room ! ok enough ! Next up went for dinner with Manu Taub and Alex, to some italian pizza place ! Ordered with my mouth watering ! I received a Mozzerella, Ham, Tomato, Olive & Mushroom pizza ! it looked amazing but to my great dismay the mushrooms ruine dit ! i dont know what type of musrooms they were… tasted like rubber soaked in fish oil for a couple of days and then spiced with some salt and pepper and who knows what else ! needless to say i didnt finish it because even after taking all the mushrooms out it still tasted like it had been awfully close to a toilet ! We then paid ! I went to get some cash and went to bed and slept like the dead once more !
