PKRA Speed: Port Saint Louis Day 4

08 :15. I get a Call from the canadians . They tell me that they are picking me up at 09 :00 to do an interview for their documentary on Speed Sailing and the quest to break 50knots. I have to look fresh and fabulous. But that is completely the opposite to how i feel. I drag myself out of bed and into the shower. The house is quiet. I walk out to the gate and i jump in the van with the Canadians. Inroduction to Scott : artistic, expressive and excited documenatary director and filmmaker. Engaged, talkative & calm. Introduction to Andrew : quirky, eccentric, cool but with a nerdy style, big glasses and funny safari dress code etc… We drive towards Arles and Scott takes a turn offroad into a farmland. He drives a while and stops about a km away from those big electricity fans. We hike from here on with all the camera stuff to find a spot for the interview. Green grass and farm type backdrops isnt my idea of promoting Speedkiting but all is good. If i really think about it the electricity wind fans are a pretty good idea. We do an interview and head down to the beach. I dont want to sound monotonous but its pretty much the same story as yesterday. No wind, sunny. Everyone half dead. …… At least its sunny. I head down to the water with the canadians. Before we go they put a microphone on me. Thats more like it. I dont have to stare at the camera and can be free to be myself. The earlier filming kind of freaked me out a bit and i supose i wasnt fully awake yet at the time. But now i was in my element. I started off telling stories about my experiences with Finian Maynard and Bjorn dunckerbeck and the reasons for funny nicknames like finimenion point 7.com etc. Its a sunny Sunday in south France, and so far in my experience it doesn happen too often this time of year. The beach is packed with people. We see some funny outfits. The riders that survived the previous night were all catching up on their tans or throwing eachother into the mediteranean. We redo some of my interview and i get the chance to interview a few randoms. The scott and andrew head back to maseille. The rest of the day i spent learning to Deal with being renamed ‘Sjoukje the savage’ and drinking water. Sam and i watched a couple more episodes of Heroes and let me tell you its the new cool. Im so excited i cant wait for the next episodes to come out. We head home and have some chill time. Around 9pm we go down to the Irish pub again. Alex has a meeting with Manu , Taro & i have nothing better to do than to go along and keep nigel company. We sit outside. Its amazing weather. The pub closes at 22 :30. I was getting ready to go to the car when the owner calls us back. He had brought a bottle of champagne for us and his staff. We sat down and had a good chat with the owner and experienced a little bit more french culture. Let me tell you. There is nothing like proper top quality french champagne. Nigel and i were sitting there smiling like idiots. iT is like quicksilver, mercury whatever you wanna call it, ( im not talking abou the taste of mercury, i know its poisonous, im referring to the way mercury moves) so there you have it, its like the smoothest thing youve ever tasted but its still bubbly and fizzy and just amazing. I dont know how to describe. All i could do is just smile away and say Merci as many times as i could without sounding like a freak.Just as i thought it couldnt get any better the owner slipped inside and brought back some smoked ham, bread , and various cheeses, another bottle of champagen and a bottle of red wine. All of superb quality. This is not going out on the piss. This is amazing. This is for sure one of theose priceless moments i wil never forget. We were home by 12pm and had a good nigts rest.
